The Joy Ford battle with MDHA comes to a happy end. Apparently, some folks started doing some real thinking and a land swap deal was worked out. I’ve no doubt that an important component in coming to this compromise was the heat that citizens put on MDHA, Lionstone Group and local politicans. Great work, y’all.
Here’s […]

Ford hearing postponed
August 28th, 2008 · No Comments
I just got a call from Joy Ford of Country International Records. She told me that within the hour her attorney, Scott Bullock of Institute for Justice was notified by Nashville’s MDHA that they were postponing their motions scheduled to be heard in court tomorrow. Bullock also told her that MDHA had just faxed him […]

Eminent Domain hearing on Friday
August 25th, 2008 · No Comments
We can only assume that the ‘compromise‘ that MDHA had the news media believing was imminent between MDHA and Joy Ford of Country International Records was weeks premature. I heard from Joy Ford this weekend. The hearing regarding her and MDHA (on behalf of Lionstone Group) is still on for Friday.
Miss Joy tells me […]

By news reports yesterday one was lead to believe that the property rights battle between MDHA & Lionstone group against Joy Ford and her Country International Records was over. There was a compromise. Things are going to work out, no more story…move on ladies and gentlemen.

More friends stand with Ford

When I visited with Joy Ford of Country International Records last Wednesday she mentioned the news below. She was very encouraged and thankful. This wasn’t the only group that was preparing to make public their support so stay tuned.
The National Federation of Independent Business is siding with the property owner in a Music Row eminent […]

Tennessee ConserVOLiance bloggers Kay Brooks, Kate from An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings and I represented the New Media at Joy Ford’s Monday press conference. We were joined by WTN radio’s Phil Valentine, Fox 17 News’ John Dunn, the Tennessean’s Chas Sisk and camera crews from two other local TV stations, sadly without accompanying reporters.
In the […]

Friends Fortify Ford
July 22nd, 2008 · 1 Comment
It was an honor and a privilege to attend the press conference yesterday at Country International Records and stand with so many of Joy Ford’s friends as she moves into the next phase of protecting her property rights and ours. It was obvious that she was a bit overwhelmed by the the number of friends […]

Will the Circle be Unbroken, Part III: Oppose the Music Industry’s Efforts to Replace our Rights from Music Row!
July 15th, 2008 · No Comments
I read Narvel Blackstock’s recent letter to the editor with disappointment. Titled ‘Support the Music Industry’s Efforts to Replace Blight Near Music Row’, it defended MDHA’s decision to force Joy Ford off of her property to make room for $100 million worth of development. I’m sure Mr. Blackstock is a nice man. […]

LionStone Blight

I took a walk around the property between Demonbreun and Music Circle East this morning. It’s here that Miss Joy Ford’s County International Records is located. That’s the property that MDHA wants to take from her and give to LionStone developers so they can build a big tax revenue generator for the city. If they […]

Will the Circle be Unbroken, Part II
July 7th, 2008 · No Comments
Last week I wrote about the plight of Nashville’s Joy Ford, the country’s latest victim of Eminent Domain abuse by government. Nashville’s Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) has begun legal proceedings under Eminent Domain to condemn and seize Joy’s business. It has prospered at the head of Music Row for almost 30 […]
