TNCVA Policies

Given the previous post on Comments, it seems wise to publicly note our policy regarding both Comments and Email correspondence.

The ConserVOLiance is officially a Non No Follow blog. Abuse of this by posting intentionally meaningless links or comments for the sole purpose of generating the link back to you will result in your comment being deleted and the “no follow” being applied specifically to your comments. Forewarned is forearmed.

Our comment policy here is pretty open and tolerant. No one will have comments deleted because we disagree with them or because they espouse different values and positions.

That having been said, if you are unable to express your values, positions and opinions without the excessive use of profanity (especially of the “stronger” variety); without the use of threats, insults and harassment and other generally understood trollish behavior, your comments can and will be deleted and you can and will be banned if you persist.

The ConserVOLiance exists for the express purpose of the exchange of ideas. It is assumed those exchanges will be passionate at times. It is also assumed the passion will be of the responsible, grown-up variety.

Comments, being made of your own free will, are public and are thus quotable and are seen as a legitimate expression of your views. If you don’t explain yourself well, don’t be offended if someone doesn’t understand you perfectly.

The determination of whether or not a comment or email violates any of our terms and policies rests entirely and completely with The ConserVOLiance. You may argue your case with us but the final decision is ours - period.

Eventually, each ConserVOLiance author will have a contact email here at the ConserVOLiance so that you may contact them directly. While each Author is free to set his or her own policy regarding email, you should know that the policy of The ConserVOLiance is that email correspondence is NOT considered private, even if you request that it be so. While that is, on the surface, harsh sounding, it is in reality for your protection more than ours.

Do not, under any circumstances, email any of our Authors or the ConserVOLiance anything that you do not give them permission to reprint or republish. Even if you request anonymity, The ConserVOLiance - and its Authors - make no guarantees that request will be honored. It may be - but it may not be.

This policy is public and it is your responsibility to know it as a commentor/email correspondent here. The reason for the disclaimer here is that it is simply too easy to produce a doctored copy of an email containing a request for anonymity that did not appear in the original and to attempt, thereby, to damage The ConserVOLiance or one of its Authors. Thus our policy that NOTHING is off the record. You may ask for it to be so, but we make no guarantees. Please correspond with us as if everything you say will become public at some point. That is the safest policy for both you and for us.

Finally, it needs to be said that The ConserVOLiance will cooperate completely with all legitimate requests from legitimate law enforcement agencies in the event a request is made for copies of comments, emails, IP addresses, etc in these matters. If you can’t pay, then don’t play.

I think the do follow or no no follow movement is one that just makes sense…bloggers get to give back to their readership. Thank you

I like that. You reward the people that truely deserve it and the other people who are just spamming get what they have coming to them.
